My Action for Children (beta)

Start-Up Packs. Help us give our young mums a brighter start.

What we need: We’d love to be able to give our young mums a Start-Up Pack when they move into their first home. Just some basic things like bedding, towels and kitchen equipment, so they can start to turn their houses into real homes.

The difference it'll make: We work with local young women aged 16-21 who are either pregnant or have a child under 12 months old. For many of them, we are the only people they can turn to for support.

And they often need both healthcare advice and help finding somewhere safe and welcoming to live with their new babies.

Money is always tight for our young women, and moving into your first home without the basic necessities can be a very unsettling and lonely experience. A few simple things – saucepans, bedding and towels – will really help them build a welcoming and happy family home.

Each Start-Up Pack would cost £50, and would make a world of difference to our young mums.
