That’s why we’re inviting families to hold a Very Hungry Caterpillar themed play day at home with your little ones. We’re here to help you with fundraising tips and activity ideas, so here are the answers to some Frequently Asked Questions

What’s in the Fundraising Pack?

We’ll send you a free activity pack with everything you need – from crowns you can decorate to a Treasure Hunt you can try at home. It also contains a Collection Box and Very Hungry Caterpillar stickers for everyone taking part!

Where does the Giant Wiggle take place?

Hold your play day at home and please follow keep everyone safe by following official public health advice on Coronavirus. You can find information and guidance at NHS UK.

How can we raise money?

We suggest you ask friends and family to sponsor you by donating £2 each. Set up a JustGiving page to share with parents, friends and family. Get everyone involved in fundraising online – it’s all part of the fun.


Set up a Giant Wiggle JustGiving page.

In the past, our wigglers have held a sponsored reading of The Very Hungry Caterpillar™ and asked friends and family to sponsor them an extra £1. You could also try our Treasure Hunt at home! Can you find The Very Hungry Caterpillar’s™ food hiding in your house? Ask friends and family to make a donation to your JustGiving page.

When will I receive my pack?

We’ll send your pack as soon as possible at the start of April, May, June, July and August.

Is the Giant Wiggle a fundraising walk?

This event was initially created to be a fundraising walk. However given the government advice around Covid-19 we have adapted the materials so that families can use them at home this year instead.

How can I send in my donations?

It’s quick and easy to send us your donations. Please pay in your donations by September 30th so we can put your donations to work right away.

1. Visit the Giant Wiggle JustGiving page and click the 'start fundraising' button.  

2. Select the option to create a fundraising page and set a fundraising target. 

3. Briefly explain why you’re taking part in the Giant Wiggle.  

4. Share your page far and wide to get everyone involved!

By holding a play day at home and collecting sponsorship from family and friends, you’re keeping vulnerable child safe and happy. Thank you.

The donations you raise at your Giant Wiggle play day at home helps Action for Children run more than 503 local services across the UK, in schools and online. Thanks to people like you, we support 368,648 children, young people and their families each year. It’s through your support that we can look out for children and young people with a huge range of needs: from young carers to children with disabilities, those who are homeless and those who have suffered abuse.

What age ranges are Giant Wiggle activities designed for?

We think children under 6 years old will particularly enjoy our Very Hungry Caterpillar activities.

Will I receive a certificate?

Yes! We’ll send you a Very Hungry Caterpillar certificate to say a big thank you. Pop it somewhere for everyone to admire – it’s time to celebrate!
