Yes Chef

Foodies across Glasgow are invited to attend a culinary event with a difference while improving the lives of young people supported by Action for Children Scotland.

‘Yes Chef!’ is a fundraising event which sees six young men supported by the charity’s ‘Moving On’ service learn to cook from scratch before preparing a meal for hundreds of guests at a top hotel in Glasgow.

The 2017 event promises to be the biggest and best yet and you’re invited to be part of it.

The show-stopping menu for guests at the Hilton in Glasgow on the 28th of May will be prepared by young men who spent time in prison at an early age and are being supported by the charity to transform their lives.

Prior to the programme, they had little, or no, previous kitchen experience beyond the very basics. In the 12 weeks leading up to the ‘Yes Chef!’ final, the boys will ready themselves by learning their craft at the Tennent’s Training Academy as well as working in some of the best, and well-known,  venues and restaurants across Glasgow.

Since launching in 2014, the event has raised over £50,000 and made a long-term difference to the lives of the young men taking part, all of whom have gone on to secure placements in top Glasgow restaurants with some starting careers in the hospitality sector.

This year’s event, sponsored by Tennent’s Training Academy and working in partnership with, will be the biggest yet with 500 expected to attend.

On the night guests will be taken on a culinary journey by TV funny man Hardeep Singh Kohli and will see the boys split into two teams as they compete to be the victors. After cooking a six-course tasting menu, their fate will be left in the hands of those in attendance.

Guests will be treated to a top class selection of some of Scotland’s finest fare with live demonstrations and a behind the scenes look at how the young men are coping with the heat in the kitchen. There will also be a chance to hear first-hand how Action for Children Scotland has supported them on this journey.

In 2016 it was the red team who came out on top. Can the blue team take the honours this time around? You can find out by joining us on the night.

Until 1 December you can take advantage of our early bird by grabbing a table of ten for £650, a saving of £100. After that, tables are priced at £750.
