Nancy Cook Presentation

On Action for Children Sunday, our team in Norfolk visited Lessingham Methodist Church to say a big Thank You to one of our long term supporters.

With help from her family, we were able to surprise Nancy Cook. Nancy is in her 80s and has been supporting Action for Children since she was 9 years old! As an adult, she has supported us through her farm shop (selling produce such as jam) that she ran with her husband.

Sadly, our records do not go back far enough but we’ve been doing some sums and think that over the years Nancy has raised over £50,000 for Action for Children.

Nancy enjoyed receiving her certificate and she was incredibly pleased to be thanked.

Thanks Nancy and thanks to all our supporters who fundraise for us so that we can continue to help vulnerable children across the UK.

If you know anyone else who deserves a special thank you from us, get in touch!

While our team were talking with Nancy, she recalled all the ways that she used to raise money for us.

  • Sunny Smiles were collecting envelopes which featured pictures of the children who lived in our children's homes.
  • League of Lanterns were money boxes given to Methodist churches.

Inspired by Nancy, we've gone into our archives and pulled out some pictures of Sunny Smiles and League of Lanterns.
