young carers at Byte Night

Our sleep-out challenge Byte Night is now only a couple of weeks away, and we’re looking for 100 volunteers to help us out on the night.

The money raised from Byte Night supports our work to tackle the root cause of youth homelessness. We support young people like Arainn, Hayden and Mike.

How you can help

We're looking for people to cover different volunteer shifts so you can choose when you’d like to help out.

Daytime: 12.00 – 17.00 (help the team set up our indoor and outdoor sites)

Evening: 16.00 – 23.30 (when people arrive, help the team with Registration, Cloakroom, Bar, Raffle selling and auction)

Night: 22.30 – 07.00 (hand out sleeper materials and looking after outdoor site)

"Volunteering at Byte Night makes me feel very proud – it gives me a great sense of achievement. I’ve learnt so much about what some young people have to go through...If anyone was thinking of volunteering, I’d tell them to come with an open mind and just make a difference for a night. It’s only one night a year, but it does so much for so many young lives"

Byte Night began in 1998 when 30 people slept out in London and raised £35,000.

Byte Night has now grown to several different locations across the UK and in 2015, over 1,200 people slept out raising over £1.1 million.

This year Byte Night takes place on Friday 7 October at 10 locations around the UK - Birmingham, Bristol, Belfast, Cambridge, Cardiff, Edinburgh*, London, Manchester, Newcastle, Reading
*Note: Edinburgh does not need additional volunteers

"2016 will be my sixth. 6 years in I’m still enjoying it. I find it very rewarding meeting people and organising whatever it is we need to organise on the night."
