1. Privacy

1.1 Action for Children is committed to protecting the privacy of its supporters and stakeholders. We fully comply with the Data Protection Act 1998.

1.2 We only collect personal information when you specifically provide it to us. This may happen when you contact Action for Children, register on our website, make a donation to us or register to receive e-newsletters.

1.3 Where stated we may use the personal information you provide to contact you in the future about Action for Children’s work. If you do not want this to happen please uncheck the appropriate boxes provided.

1.4 We are legally obliged by the Data Protection Act 1998 to make sure that we only use your information for the purpose for which it was requested, and to make sure it is kept securely.

1.5 We take care to make sure that the way we use your data is secure - and we are constantly improving our systems and processes to make sure that your data is handled efficiently and safely.

1.6 If you have subscribed to receive e-newsletters, we will use your email address to send you information about important issues and changes to the website. Each email will give you the option to stop receiving information from Action for Children.

1.7 If you have requested information to be sent to you, we will only use the email address and postal address provided to communicate with you about this information in the future.

1.8 Occasionally, we agree with carefully selected organisations to contact each other's supporters about our work or services. When you submit a form we will ask you if you would like to opt out of this.

1.9 If a disclosure of child abuse is made, we will pass personal information to social services or the police.

1.10 If you have submitted "Personal Data" (i.e. your name, address, telephone number, e-mail address or other data from which you can be identified) through the website and require Personal Data which Action for Children holds about you to be updated/corrected then please contact my@actionforchildren.org.uk. Action for Children will use reasonable efforts to correct this information from its existing files and to inform any party to whom it has passed such data.

1.12 Changes made will be actioned within five working days, although due to the way that we select and use data it may take up to one calendar month for the changes to become effective.

1.13 We will use your personal information to provide you with the services, products or information you have requested for administration purposes and to further our charitable aims, including for fundraising activities. 

1.14 Please note that Action for Children will take reasonable and appropriate measures to ensure that Personal Data is stored in a secure manner. However, the Internet is inherently insecure and Personal Data submitted by means of the Internet may be vulnerable to unauthorised access by third parties. Submission of Personal Data using the Internet is at your own risk.

2 Use of cookies

2.1 When you view the website some information may be stored on your computer. This information will be in the form of a "cookie" or similar file and will help Action for Children in many ways. For example, cookies allow the Site or a related advertisement to be tailored to better match your interests and preferences. 3.1 We may amend this policy from time to time. We will state clearly on our website any substantial changes to the way in which we use your personal information.
